Getting Married in Alabama

Updated: Aug 13, 2023

Firstly, congratulations and best wishes! We are thrilled for your union and would be honored to support you as you begin this journey together.

Getting married in Alabama has recently become very easy. All you need to do is fill out an online form, print it, and have it notarized. The instructions read, “Once properly completed and recorded by the probate court, the marriage is legal.” So, you do need to go and bring your papers to the Madison County Probate.

See Q&A below:

Q: How do we find the paperwork and instructions?

Q: Where is the Probate Court?

A: HERE! It’s so fast! Go in, take a number, hand over the paperwork, and you’re done! Bring ID.

Q: But then we won’t have a nice marriage certificate for a keepsake! What can we do?

A: We got you! We will have one made up for you and sign it as witnesses, if you’d like to have a certificate.

Q: We have more questions; may we contact you?
